M Anwar Ullah

Lions, Kangaroos – nobody has any escape from the ‘Tigers Den’, now it’s an absolute truth when Australia became the latest victim of the Tigers, as they overpowered the doughty opponents in the first  Test of the two-match cricket series on fourth day yesterday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

Australia, the only cricket team was unconquered when all other Test teams had already the bitter experiences of suffering defeats to Tigers.

It is the second visit of the Australian team to play Test cricket in Bangladesh when in the first time in 2006 they escaped narrowly with just a one wicket victory.

However, this time Tigers preyed the Kangaroos after fighting for last three days, as finally the Australian cricket team, the ‘Brazil of Cricket’ forced to suffer defeat at the hands of Bangladesh.

It was most coveted and much talked Test series against Australia as, they denied their tour in Bangladesh last year on security reason.

The victory was not any fluke or upset when the tigers have been dominating from the first day over the Australian in both batting and bowling but the early hour of the fourth day the giants trying to override the Tigers.

But the roaring Tigers’ comeback was scripted a historical victory after a lot of talking about a tour for getting all what had gone before.

Right from the Australian’s landing here at the Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka, there was great excitement twisted among the cricket fans, organisers, not only in Bangladesh, but in the cricket world also was have great attention.

Actually, from the beginning, that was from the Australia agreed to visit Bangladesh and the scheduled was set and thereafter the some in-house conflict between the CA and the players and at one stage it has become doubtful whether they (Australia) would come here or not .

After their arrival, there were also huge confusion cropped up among all when the weather became the a big challenge, as the practice sessions of both the teams were seriously hampered and the practice match was also forced to postpone.
