Stocks maintain upward despite lower transactions
Stock markets maintained upward trend yesterday despite lower transactions on higher activities of some large-cap securities, reports BSS .
The major rising sectors were banks, textile and engineering. A total of 114 large cap securities moved up due to higher activities.
DSEX, the major index of DSE, closed the day with 25.44 points up at 5,973.94. The DSES for Shariah based securities and the DS30 for blue chip scrip also followed the same trend with a marginal rise to end at 1319.09 and 2126.58 respectively.
The daily trade value declined to Tk 804.14 crore from the previous days Tk 924.95 crore and the volume witnessed a fall of 25.06 crore shares from 28.62 crore shares.
Out of days 329 traded issues, prices of 142 securities closed higher against 136 losing issues.
The days major gainers were CMC Kamal, NCC Bank, AB Bank, BD Auto Cars and Jamuna Bank. The days major losers were First Finance, Monno Ceramics, Dulamia Cotton, Meghan Pet and HR Tex.
Lanka Bangla Finance topped the turnover leaders followed by AB Bank, IFIC, Al Arafah Bank and BBS. Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also followed the same trend with its CASPI index 72.34 points up at 18,534.59.
The daily trade value was Tk 63.40 crore and the volume was 2.27 crore shares.
