Soinik League leader killed in capital

Unidentified assailants stabbed to death a leader of Bangabandhu Soinik League (BBSL) at Kafrul in the capital’s Mirpur area last night. The deceased was identified as Rubel Hossain, 35, general secretary of BBSL. Police said a group of 6 to 7 men attacked Rubel with sharp weapons as he was standing in front of his residence at Bank Colony in East Kazipara around 10 pm. Later, neighbours rushed him to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital, where on-duty doctors declared him dead. The victim’s brother, Rummon, claimed that his brother might have been killed by his political rivals.
