Partial operation on Muktamoni

Doctors of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) yesterday performed partial operation on the right hand of Muktamoni as she was suffering from fever.

“We could not complete surgery on right hand of Muktamoni as she was suffering from fever. We have just conducted 20 per cent operation and the rest part of the operation will be completed after the Eid,” said Dr Samanta Lal Sen, national coordinator of DMCH's Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit. He said the operation started at 9:30am at the DMCH burn unit has been successful and Mukta Moni was doing fine.

During the 45-minute operation, he said, the doctors removed tumor from her upper arm and shoulder.

Dr Sen said they would conduct the rest part of the operation to the 12-year old girl either Monday or Tuesday after the Eid.

Earlier, on August 12, doctors at the DMCH had successfully completed the first surgery on Satkhira girl Mukta Moni's hemangioma tumour.

Muktamoni was brought at the Hospital on the 12th of July.  The DMCH doctors conducted a biopsy on Muktamoni. The biopsy results showed that she has a tumor in her blood vessels in her right hand. She was admitted to the DMCH on July 11 last.
