Bagerhat: A court here yesterday morning sentenced a man to death for killing his father over a trifling matter in Morelganj upazila in 2010, reports UNB.
The convict was identified as Badsha Gazi, 45, and a resident of Manikjanj village of Morelganj upazila. He was tried in absentia.
According to the prosecution, Badsha stabbed his father over buying medicine from a shop for his father, leaving him critically injured on February 09, 2010. Later, Motahar died in Amtoli area on his way to hospital. Victims another son Md Abdul Haque Gazi filed a case with Morelganj police station on the same day. Badsha went into hiding after the incident.
Goutam Halder, sub-inspector of Morelganj police station, submitted charge sheet accusing Badsha on June 29, 2010.
After examining the witnesses and documents, Session’s Judge Mizanur Rahman Khan of Bagerhat court handed down the verdict.
