Football tournament held at Gono Bishwabidyalay
The Final “Annual Inter Department Football (Male and Female) Tournament-2017’’ was held on Saturday on its own playground, says a press release.
 The female team of the Business Administration defeated the Department of Law by 1-0 goal while the male team of MBBS won the trophy defeating the English Department team by 5-4 goals in tiebreaker.
Later Gono Bishwabidyalay’s Vice-chancellor (current) Prof Doctor Laila Parveen Banu and Registrar Md Delower Hossain distributed the prize among the winners. Chairman of Sports Committee Md Rafiqul Alam along with deans, departmental heads, teachers and students were present among others. A total of 17 male and 13 female teams respectively from various departments participated in this football tournament.

IU students stand by flood victims
ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY: The students of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia will distribute food among the flood affected people in Nilphamari and Gaibandha districts today.
The food will be distributed at a programme to be organised under the banner of IU Greater Rangpur Students’ Welfare Association (GRSWA), said M Ashikur Rahman Ashik, secretary of the organisation. Meanwhile, the association has collected around Tk one lakh from the students and teachers of the university with a view to extending assistance to the flood-hit people, he added.

Blood donation programme held at Stamford University
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DM) Commissioner Md Asaduzzaman Mia on Saturday said members of the DMP have been trying continuously to take care of the city-dwellers’ wellbeing.
The DMP Commissioner came up with the remark at a blood donation programme organised by Stamford University’s permanent campus in the capital’s Siddheshwari on Saturday. Stamford University and the DMP jointly arranged the blood donation programme to mark the 42nd death anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Mourning Day.
The top official of the DMP said the people, who donated blood in the programme contributed to the welfare of mankind, which is admirable.
The DMP commissioner mentioned that Police Blood Bank of the DMP has been collecting blood organizing blood donation programme in every national festival since 2010. “We give blood to the people taking only blood processing fees, which is much less than other blood bank in the country,” he said and adding that if necessary, blood would given free of cost to the poor and hapless people..
Senior officials of the DMP and the University were present in the programme chaired by vice chancellor of the university, Prof Mohammad Ali.
