Footballer Shamsu passes away

Shamsul Islam Mollah, former national footballer and father of former national cricket captain Khaled Mashud Pilot, died of cardiac arrest while he was swimming in a pond in Rajshahi. He was 78.

He left behind his wife, one son and two daughters to mourn his death. His Namaj-e-janaza was held in the evening later he was buried at his family graveyard.

Shamshu a leading striker in the 60s also played for the then Pakistan team. And he started his Dhaka First Division League in favour of Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting and later played for two seasons for Abahani Limited after the Liberation war.  

Bangladesh Cricket Board, Bangladesh Football Federation and Cricketers Welfare Association of Bangladesh condoled the death of Shamsu.
