DU e-library opens

�This advanced level e-Library will be connected with 35 in ternationally renowned libraries and publication houses in the world�.

The largest e-library in Asia yesterday opened at the Faculty of Business Studies of Dhaka University (DU), reports BSS. DU Vice-Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique inaugurated it as the chief guest at a function held at the Business Studies Faculty Conference Room, said a DU press release. Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies of DU Prof Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam presided over the function while Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof Nasreen Ahmad, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof Shahid Akhtar Hossain, Treasurer Prof Md Kamal Uddin and Chief Operating Officer of Robi Axiata Ltd. Mahtab Uddin Ahmed addressed it as special guests.
Prof Siddique urged the students to make themselves as world-class graduates by utilising the e-library facilities properly. He also called upon the students to prevent themselves from misusing of IT facilities. The VC paid glowing tributes to the memory of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the month of mourning.
He also quoted the Bangabandhu's advice and said, "Investment in the education sector is the best one”. He thanked the Robi Axiata Ltd authorities for providing financial support in establishing e-Library at DU. The e-library has been established at the Faculty of Business Studies with the financial assistance and technical support from Robi Axiata Limited, Dell, Orion group and Logic Software. This advanced level e-library will be connected with 35 internationally renowned libraries and publication houses in the world. DU teachers, students and researchers will be able to read all journals, books research papers and articles of these leading libraries of the world including Dhaka University, Oxford University and Cambridge University libraries by using the e-Library facilities.
