Australia’s experienced spinner Nathan Lyon said that the match is still hanging in balance and if they could fight back the course of it could then be changed by their batters they have in their battery.
“It's in the balance to be fair,” said Nathan Lyon, who conceded 79 runs to claim three wickets including the prized wicket of Shakib Al Hasan.
“You can probably look at Bangladesh who have the momentum at the moment. To lose the toss and bowl a team out for 260 or under 300 is always a good result for a bowling team. It's not ideal losing three wickets but that’s the game. You’ve got to give them credit, they batted well, they bowled well,” Lyon told media at the post match briefing yesterday.
“Now it’s our chance to fight back and really test ourselves in these conditions. We've got two very good batsmen (at the crease), one’s the number on batter in the world and Matt Renshaw is a very talented young cricketer. We've got two very good batters there at the moment, we've just got to work hard, bat long partnerships but there's no demons in that pitch yet so it’s a good opportunity for our batters,” he added.
Praising for batting performance of Tamim and Shakib, who rescued Bangladesh from the precarious 10 for three, the 29-year-old spinner said that the turn is now for them to take the grip of the match as much as possible.
“I think the two guys batted very brave. They took the game on, which you have to do in these type of conditions,” the New South Wales-lad, who fortunately was out by Shakib, said.
“I think on that wicket if you bat well in partnerships and bat together, you can score runs. I'm going to sit here and give them credit. They're two good players, they played some incredible shots out there and took the game on. Hats off to them,” he also said.
“It's now our opportunity to take the game on in our first innings and see where we get to,” he added.
When asked has he been out having panic, the right-handed all-rounder said that he has been out after missed the straight delivery not being panic.
“I wasn't panicking, I just missed a straight one. That’s the game of cricket,” he thought.
