Fellow artistes recall Nayak Raj Razzak

Young generation will remember legendary Bangla movie star Abdur Razzak popularly known as “Nayak Raj Razzak” for his extra-ordinary contribution to the film industry, report BSS. Renowned artistes of Bangladesh film industry recalled the extra-ordinary talent of Bangla movie star Razzak at a memorial meeting at the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation in the city yesterday.

Noted movie actors Faruq, Alamgir and Sohel Rana, cultural personality Syed Hasan Imam, President of Bangladesh Artistes’ Association Misha Shawdagar, general secretary Zayed Khan Khan, among others, addressed the meeting. A good number of people including actors and actresses of new generation, artists, co-artists, attended the meeting.

The speakers said new generation will be inspired from eventful and brilliant career of Nayak Raj Razzak, which will eventually help producing of quality films in the country.

Nayak Raj Razzak died of cardiac arrest at the city’s United Hospital on August 21 at the age of 75.

The celebrated film star made more than 300 appearances in Bengali and Urdu movies and also directed around sixteen movies.

Some of his notable works are “Neel Akasher Nichey”, “Maynamati, “Osru Diye Likha”, “Jibon Theke Neya”, “Obujh Mon”, Moner Moto Bou”, “Abirbhab”, “Bashori”, “Etotuku Asha”, “Je Agune Puri”, “Moinamothi”, “Dwip Neva Nai”, “Sharalipi”, “Ashikkhit”, “Chutir Ghanta” and more.

He was given the title of Nayak Raj Razzak by Ahmed Zaman Chowdhury, editor of Chitrali. Najak Raj attained Independence Day Award in 2015. He won five times National Film Awards - - for Ki je Kori in 1976, Oshikkhito in 1978, Boro Bhalo Lok Chilo in 1982, Chandranath in 1984 and Jogajog in 1988.
