A Khulna court yesterday placed two prime accused in child Rakib murder case including workshop owner Sharif and his associate Mintu Mia, on 5-day remand. Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Faruk Iqbal passed the order after Police Sub-Inspector Md Mustaque Ahmed, the investigating officer in the case, produced Sharif, 35, and his associate Mintu Mia, 40, before the court seeking ten-day remand each. Both Sharif and Mintu Mia were injured in mob beating following the death of Rakib and were treated at Khulna Medical College Hospital under police custody. Rakib, 13, who worked at a motorcycle garage at Tutpara Central Road in Khulna city was tortured to death on August 3 night allegedly by his former employer and co-workers over quitting his job.
