A memorial meeting on former lawmaker and valiant freedom fighter Advocate Khan Tipu Sultan was held at Greater Jessore Bhaban, Nilkhet in the capital on Friday, reports BSS.
Greater Jessore Samity and Jessore Unnayan O Bibhag Bastobayon Parishad, Dhaka, arranged the meeting with vice president of Greater Jessore Samity, Dhaka Prof. Muhammad Abdul Latif in the chair.
General secretary of greater Jessore Samity Kazi Rafiqul Islam, acting president of Jessore Bibhag Bastobayaon Parishad Shailendra Nath Saha, president of Jessore Zila Samity Prof. Dr Abdur Rashid,
Nephew of Tipu Sultan S M Zakir Hossain, general secretary of Bibhag Bastobayon Parishad Md Hasanuzzaman Bipul, Treasurer of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Madhusudan Mondal, President of Khulna Divisional Lawyers Association Advocate Bivash Chandra Biswas and former Assistant Attorney General Miah Sirajul Islam, spoke, among others.
The speakers highlighted the colourful political life and works of Advocate Khan Tipu Sultan and paid their respect to him.
Later, on behalf of the organizations, a memorandum on the deceased was handed over to his nephew S M Zakir Hossain.
Tipu Sultan, a valiant freedom fighter and lawmaker from Jessore-3 constituency (Monirampur), died of a severe stroke at a hospital in the capital on Saturday last.
