Bangladesh wheelchair cricket team clinched the series when they thrashed India wheelchair cricket team by two wickets in the nail-biting series-deciding match at the Dhaka University Gymnasium ground yesterday.
After being locked in 1-1, the third match of the series was rolled onto the ground, where the visitors threw an exciting challenge for the home side.
Indian side put on allout 223 in 19.2 overs largely thanks to Shahid’s unbeaten 64, after which Rajon won the match for Bangladesh with a six when the local side needed two runs from the last delivery. Rajon finally remained unbeaten on 34.
Uzzal of Bangladesh was named for the man of the match and man of the series for his outstanding performance throughout the series. He slammed hat-trick in back-to-back matches. In series deciding match, Uzzal picked up five wickets including the credible hat-trick.
Former Bangladesh captain Khaled Mashud Pilot distributed the prize among the winners as the chief guest. Tournament sponsor and Walton’s senior operative director Uday Hakim, its senior assistant director Miton Ahmed, organiser and co-founder of Imago Sports Management Tamjidul Islam among others were also present.
