The works of installing flood light at Maulana Bhashani Hockey Stadium is going on full swing to stage the matches of the upcoming 10th Asia Cup Hockey from October 11.
The works of setting up the flood light was initiated from the third week of June while the switch will be on right after one month from today. This stated by the project engineer Sumon Biswas yesterday while talking to The Independent.
Sumon said, “Actually, Transcom, JSM Corporation and the Computer World of Bangladesh (CWB) are jointly doing the works and we have started the work from the third week of June and since then 80 percent works of foundation of setting four towers have already been done.”
“But some materials are yet to reach from Chittagong Port. Hopefully we will have all the items by this week and then we will start the works of casting the RCC which will take 12 to 13 days to be matured and then the towers will be set. By this time the works of cable connection will be completed with all the towers and the luminar (lamp) will be connected with the towers,” Sumon Biswas revealed about the development of works.
“After a trial, we will hand-over the stadium to the National Sports Council (NSC) and the Bangladesh Hockey Federation. We are very much hopeful that you will see the stadium will completely decorated by flood-light within one month,” said Sumon Biswas.
Meanwhile, the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) offered BHF to organize the Asia Cup Hockey scheduled to be held in October 11 to 22 but on condition of setting up the flood light and also some renovation of the VIP Gallery, players’ dressing room and Press box at the Maulana Bhashani Hockey Stadium.
Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) and the NSC were very prompt to take the initiative to fulfill the conditions of the AHF and all the works of setting the flood light are expected to be completed fully by third week of September the other renovation works will also be finish on time, as the BHF officials expected.
