Bangladesh iconic all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan said Thursday that he does not see any impossibility to win Tests against the Australian side in the upcoming Test home series.

The ace all-rounder also said that for this they have to perform better with the bat and ball.

“We have to do well in every department to win Tests against Australia. We have to do well in batting along with bowling,” said Shakib Al Hasan, who is still No. 1 Test all-rounder in ICC rankings besides one-day and T20.

“They’re always a tough opposition wherever they go and whatever they are. They’ve every capability to adjust themselves so quick with the condition wherever they go round the world. None can do better it than them,” Shakib told reporters after their intense practice session, just three days prior to the much-awaiting Test series.

“So they’re tough opposition for us though they’re a bit inexperienced side. Along with that, their recent performance in India and Sri Lanka were not up to the mark. Hopefully they’ll continue their sub-continent performance in Bangladesh also and that we will do better,” he added.

Even though Australia is far better than Bangladesh in terms of strength, in-field techniques, rankings and cricketing culture, Shakib Al Hasan believes that the spin bowlers they have will be effective more than the visitors’ spin battery at home turf.

The iconic all-rounder and so said that they have every possibility to win the upcoming two-match Test series against the top-notch Australian side.

“I think our spin attack is better than Australia. I will not say it in all conditions but we are better than them at our own condition,” the left-handed all-rounder said.

“Taijul-Miraj have been bowling well since many days. In this series, the duo will do better things for the team’s cause, I believe,” he also said.

Citing Mehedi Hasan Miraj and Taijul Islam as in-form, the No.1 all-rounder in three formats, said that now they think how to win a match what they used to think not in past.

“Miraj-Taijul now bowls very well. Prior to them, sometimes Raj bhai or Rafique bhai support the team,” he said, adding: “What is happened in past we would not get helpful wickets. Because we had no chance of winning or we wouldn’t think to win at that time. We had thinking to at least draw the match. Now we think how we can win the match. As a result, the edge for bowlers remains more.”

The spin all-rounder said that they should focus regardless of wicket and environment more on their own performance how they could bat and bowl well against the Aussies team.

“We have no control over wickets. Curator will look into the matter. It should not be right thing for us to think much about it. We have to try to perform better than them at any wicket and environment as it’s our home condition, which are known to us. We should be better to adjust as much as possible,” the 30-year-old Shakib said.

“It would be better if the wicket is spin-friendly as I am a spinner. Along with that our pacers, who are adept, have the ability to take wickets. It should not be right thing for us to depend only on spinners,” he thought.

“At one point, it’s seen that pacers gave breakthrough by breaking a well-set partnership. It’s big than a spinner’s four or five-wicket haul. These things are important. Even batting will play a vital role in case of winning Test,” he opined.

When asked is it a chance for them to rout Australia, Shakib said that they will get down for winning Tests against the tourists.

“The condition of our team is very good but is this best chance is tough to say because we didn’t play against them in past. I could only tell you when we will play with them. It is not a matter of good or bad. Winning is the biggest matter for Bangladesh team,” the south-paw told in response to a media query.
