Secretary General of International Maritime Organisation (IMO), a specialised agency of the United Nations, Kitack Lim will visit Bangladesh on 26 August (Saturday).
He will attend an international seminar on “Strategies for Professional Development of Seafarers in Global Shipping’’ to be held at Hotel Radisson Blu in Dhaka on August 27, said a shipping ministry press release. Department of Shipping is going to organise the seminar. The speakers, in the seminar, will focus on how to increase employment opportunities for Bangladeshi sailors through improving their skills.
High-profile professionals who are working at different shipping sectors at home and abroad will present their papers at the seminar.
Secretary General of IMO had plans to visit Marine Academy, Chittagong Port, National Maritime Institute, Private Shipyard and Ship Re-cycling yard in Chittagong on August 28.
