Authorities of Dhaka University’s Kabi Sufia Kamal Hall yesterday denied issuing any notice about the dress code of its female inmates, which went viral on social networking site Facebook, reports UNB.
A notice signed by hall Provost Dr Sabita Rezwana Rahman said a distorted notice about the dress code of the hall’s girls has been circulated in the online media and social media intentionally. “This distorted notice was not from the hall authorities,” it said.
A three-member probe panel has also been formed to look into the matter, the notice said.
Contacted, Sabita said the notice was not issued by the hall authorities as it was not written in official pad and there was no authorised signature. “Any dress code-related official notice for students is issued only on any special occasion,” she said.
Earlier, a notice hung on the hall notice board instructed the girls not to roam in the hall compound wearing T-shirts and salwars, which was described as indecent dress. But the notice with spelling mistakes was not in the official pad and was without any signature.
