Chicken tikka masala is a popular Indian chicken dish. This recipe is for those who have not tried making it yet. Everything is cooked in one pan, which makes heavenly gravy.
Ingredients
For marinade
1 kg chicken
250ml yoghurt
1 tsp chilli powder
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tsp garam masala
1 tsp black pepper
Salt to taste
For gravy
Oil
Chopped onions
Ginger and garlic paste
1 tsp chilli powder
1 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp garam masala
1 tsp black pepper
Salt to taste
400ml tomato puree
200ml fresh cream
300ml water
Method
Slice the chicken into bite-size chunks.
Combine with the marinade ingredients in a bowl.
Refrigerate for at least an hour.
Drizzle little oil and fry the chicken until slightly dark brown on the edges.
Keep it aside and add more oil to the same pan.
Add chopped onions, followed by ginger and garlic paste, then cook on medium flame until tender.
Fry the powdered spices for about 1 minute to release flavour.
Stirring constantly, add the tomato puree and water.
Cook on high flame for 5 minutes and get to a boil.
Add the fresh cream and chopped coriander leaves.
Cook for another 2 minutes.
Serve with naan or rice.
