Theatre troupe Prachyanat will stage its ninth production titled ‘Koinna’ at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), Segun Bagicha in the city.
Directed by Azad Abul Kalam, Murad Khan’s script is based on a myth from the north-west of Bangladesh about ‘Koinnapir’, an obscure animist entity said to protect people who pray to her for help. In the play, Koinnapir is believed to inhibit a pond in the form of a fish, and she only appears to Nior, who is the respected hereditary village head. The story traces how mystery and imagination can work at a subconscious level.
Where: Main Hall, BSA, Segun Bagicha
