A Chittagong court yesterday (Wednesday) sent 13 high schoolteachers including 9 head teachers to jail in a sedation case filed for reportedly defaming Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The teachers appeared before the court of Banshkhali Senior Judicial Magistrate Sazzad Hossain, following summons of the court and sought bail. The court denied their bail petitions and ordered to send them to jail, said additional public prosecutor Bikash Ranjan Dhar of the court.
He said Banshkhali Police under the directives of home ministry lodged the case against the high school teachers.
Banshkhali Police Officer-in-charge Md Alamgir Hossain said a comparison between the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and a local BNP leader, Liakat Ali, was made in a half-yearly examination held on July 17, 2016.
