Non-govt primary teachers demand job nationalisation

UNB

Bangladesh Non-Government Primary Teachers’ Association on Wednesday demanded nationalisation of jobs of 24,000 teachers working in 6,000 non-government institutions across the country, reports UNB.

The primary school teachers placed their one-point demand at a human chain organised by the association at the National Press Club.  Over 1000 teachers from around 45 districts participated in the human chain to place their demand.

Speaking at the human chain the association leaders announced that will hold a rally and march at the Central Shaheed Minar and submit a memorandum to the Prime Minister on October 12 to press home their demand.

Chief coordinator of the association Samsul Alam said Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1973 nationalised 37,000 non-government primary educational institutions and later Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in 2013 nationalised 26,193 primary educational institutions and jobs of the teachers across the country.

But, job of some 6,000 primary schools are yet to be nationalised due to bureaucratic complications despite the announcement of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he said.

Samsul Alam urged the government to nationalise the jobs of the aforementioned teachers before the upcoming national election. Bangladesh Non-Government Primary Teachers Association Convenor M Shahjahan Ali Sujon presided over the human chain while other members of the association spoke.
