Gaibandha: A suspected robber was killed in a lynch-mob attack after house owner was shot to death by a gang of robbers during committing a daring robbery at Char Choumohon of Brahmaputra River basin in Chouhali upazila early yesterday, reports UNB.
Of the deceased, one was identified as Dula Mia, owner of the house where the robbery was taken place.
Quoting locals, police said a gang of 7-8 robbers swooped on the house of Dula Mia around 3:00 am. As they were obstructed by the house owner, robbers gunned down Dula Mia, leaving him dead on the spot.
Hearing the screaming of family members, locals rushed in and caught a member of the robbers’ gang while others managed to flee the spot. Later, the angry mob gave him a good thrashing, leaving him dead on the spot.
On information, police rushed in and the bodies were being taken to Gaibandha, said Masrukur Rahman Khaled, Superintendent of Gaibandha police. “In recent times, robbery incidents have increased in the char areas,” he added.
