Man to die for killing schoolgirl

MADARIPUR: A court here today sentenced a man to death for killing a schoolgirl in Kalkini upazila of the district one-year ago, reports BSS.

District and Session Judge Sharif Uddin Ahamed pronounced the verdict in presence of the convict Milon Mandol, 25, a resident of the same area.

According to prosecution, Milon stabbed his student Nitu Mandol, 13, to death as she refused to accept his proposal of affairs on September 18, 2016.  Nitu was the student of class nine of Nabogram High School under Dasar Thana of the upazila.

Victim’s father Nirmal Mandol filed a murder case with Dasar Thana against Milon on the same day.

Police after investigation submitted charge-sheet before the court against him on January 22, this year. Later, the judge examining 18 witnesses and evidences announced the judgment.
