Workshop on communication for development begins at UGC

DHAKA: A three-day national workshop on ‘Fostering curriculum and research in communication for development (C4D) among academic institutions of Bangladesh to achieve results for Bangladesh’ began yesterday at the University Grants Commission (UGC) Auditorium in the city, reports BSS.

University Grants Commission (UGC) and United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) jointly organized the workshop to be concluded on August 23, said a UGC release here.

Though the workshop started today, the inaugural ceremony was held at a city hotel on Sunday that was addressed by UGC Chairman Professor Abdul Mannan as the chief guest.

UNICEF Representative to Bangladesh Edouard Beigbeder was present at the function as the special guest.

Addressing the inaugural function, Professor Mannan welcomed the UNICEF’s initiative and hoped that the workshop will play a significant role in adding values to the enhancement of the higher education in the country.

He said C4D is very essential for the country’s socio-economic development.

The C4D Section Chief of the UNICEF Headquarters in New York Rafael Obregon presented a keynote paper in the workshop while Professor (Emeritus) of the Ohio University in the USA David Mould and C4D Section Chief of UNICEF, Bangladesh Neha Kapil also addressed it.
