Stocks saw upward trend yesterday as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges were found rising trend with higher activities of some large-cap securities, reports BSS.
The rising major sectors were engineering, ceramics, pharmaceuticals and chemical, textile and food and allied. A total of 125 large cap securities moved up on higher activities.
The broader DSEX index of the DSE closed the session with 24.84 points up at 5,844.11. The Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 1.28 points up at 1,302.32. But the blue-chip DS30 closed the session with 0.92 point down at 2097.86.
The volume of shares increased to 23.26 crore from Sunday’s 21.31 crore shares. But the daily turnover in value at DSE declined to Tk 758.67 crore from Sunday’s Tk 768.92 crore.
At DSE, out of the day’s 331 traded issues, price of 160 securities closed higher against 129 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were BBS Cables, Monno Ceramics, JMISMDL, Family Textile and Fu Wang Food. The major losing issues were Sandhani Life Insurance, Style Craft, Keya Cosmetic, Sun Life Insurance and KPPL.
BBS Cables topped the turnover leaders followed by Keya Cosmetic, Lanka Bangla Finance, RSRM Steel and CNA Textile.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trend with its major CASPI 84.09 points up at 18,162.84. At CSE, 253 issues were traded. Of those, 130 closed higher and 97 closed lower when 1.83 crore shares worth Tk 46.93 crore changed hands.
