Sk Jamal ride on two own goals

A couple of own goals steered Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club to remain firmly on contention after defeating Arambagh Krira Sangha by 3-1 in the Saif Power Battery Bangladesh Premier League football at Bangabandhu National Stadium yesterday.

Jamal, who came from a goal down to win the match remain unbeaten with four wins and a draw after fifth round match while for Arambagh it was fourth defeat out of five outings.

Afusi, from the beginning went on high back line strategy while Maruful, with his limitation decorated a compact defense line using Bukula as lone weapon to walk out to whack opponents’ area and the trick worked well.

Maruful got the result of his technique on 14th minute when his boys stunned the title contenders on with taking lead through Bukola comfortably close-range tap-in a Jewel cross, who had almost a free entrance at edge of the area before to release the ball for onrushing Nigerian (1-0).

The stunning lead lasted for 22 minutes when two surprising goals in a quick succession Jamal overpowered Arambagh’s lead with going 2-1 up.

It was something amazing, despite on leading position and also challenging well the stronger sides, defenders of Arambagh looked a bit casual when Jalal Meah diverted a high ball came from midfield into his own net to put Jamal ahead.  

Arambagh goalkeeper also a bit responsible for this when he was not at all prepared to grip the ball on 36th (1-1).

Jamal were enough lucky to go ahead when another gifted goal put them into 2-1 lead and this time Shahrear Bappy’s header went into top corner of far post when the midfielder trying to clear an Enamul corner in the first minute of three minutes added time. (2-1)

Sheikh Jamal celebrated third goal and it came from their forward Solomon King’s when the Gambian left free inside the danger area kept his cool to blast his right volley into far post having a through pass from Shamol on 63rd (3-1).
