Fast bowler Taskin Ahmed is a novice in Test arc as he played so far four Tests for Bangladesh but he is yet to bowl in fairy spell what he dreams to deliver against the top-flight Australia in the upcoming Test series.

“Big thing is that I want to bowl a winning spell so that Bangladesh can win the match,” said Taskin Ahmed, who is eyeing to play his first Test at home turf.

Later he of course explained his words, saying “It’s mostly tough on this flat track. Winning spell not meant that taking seven wickets. It may be creating a small situation, where spinners took the bulk of the wickets and I grabbed the rest. Actually I want to contribute for the team.”

After being debuted in Test in 2017, Taskin claimed seven wickets with the best figures of 2-43 from four Tests. This time he said that he set his target to take key wickets of Australia the likes of Steve Smith and David Warner.

“Every wicket in Test is countable. No doubt, all the batsmen from the top-order to number seven positions are in rich form. Except the experienced batsmen, those who are younger are scoring runs consistently,” the right-handed paceman said.

“My dream is to take all the wickets but Warner and Smith along with new batsman, who all are in rhythm, would be my prime target to take up their wickets,” he said.

Drawing a comparison of the pace battery between Bangladesh and Australia, Taskin said that Australia have world class pace attack but they have fantastic seamers who are doing better day by day.

“No doubt, Australia, who is one of the top teams, have good pace attack. We are not negligible. We already proved in world cricket that we are doing better day by day,” he said.

“We won more innings and matches by our pace bowling. Pace bowlers have great contribution behind the big match success. We have faith in ourselves. Definitely we will do better things, Inshaallah,” he also said.

The young pacer said that they will apply new variation against Australia what they are practicing for the last one and half-a-months.

“We were lagging behind them. Still we were. But we have improved than the past after working on those things. We’ve worked enough on reverse swing and swing in our camp that has been going on for the last one and half-a-months. Hopefully we could be applied those things. We could also be applied new things,” Dhaka-born lad said.

Asked what is the ambience of the dressing room after Mominul’s inclusion, the 22-year-old pacer said that they are delighted to get Mominul but sad for Mossadek’s abrupt departure owing to pain on eyes.

“Mominul bhai’s return to the final squad is a matter of cheer for us,” he said, adding: “At the same time, it was unfortunate news that Mossadek missed the series for his pain on eyes. Every player of our national team is valuable. All are our team mates. We feel better for Mominul bhai at the same time feel sad for Mossadek.”

When asked about Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin said that they believe he will come back strongly against Australia though his performance was not so good last few matches following the period of his surgical operation.

“No doubt, we’ve always more expectations to Mustafiz what he fulfills. May be his performance was not up to the mark in the last some matches. It may be happened not only Mustafiz but also the big star player of the world. I’m not worried about his performance in the last few matches. Not only am I, none of the team players not worried about it,” he said.

“We’ve faith in him. Inshaallah, he’ll stage a comeback strongly than the past,” he said.
