World Photography Day observed
The ‘World Photography Day’ was celebrated worldwide as well as Bangladesh on Saturday, reports UNB.
Dhaka University Visual Anthropology Club and Begart Institute of Photography jointly organised an event with an open discussion among the photographers and the young visual anthropologists marking the day.
A lecture on the history of the World Photography Day by the legendary photographer Imtiaz Alam Beg, also the director of the Begart Institute of Photography, and lecture on rapport building was arranged. As part of the programmes, a portfolio presentation was shown by one of the finest street photographers Enamul Kabir and other photographers while Question and Answer session was held after a movie screening in the end.

Madhabkundo waterfall reopens
The local administration has withdrawn the restriction on entry of tourists to Madhabkunda waterfall and eco-park in Baralekha upazila of Moulbibazar.
Madhabkunda waterfall was closed to tourists since June 22 after a trail leading to the site caved in partially following heavy rains. The waterfall was reopened to tourists from Sunday after renovation of the damaged area on emergency basis, said a press release signed by Sylhet Division forest officer RSM Monirul Islam.
Forest department and locals said stairs have been constructed in collapsed area near to Parjaton Restaurant. Waterfall-bound roads have been repaired with sandbags. Saiful Islam, owner of Lauachhhra Eco Cottage in Moulvibazar, said the number of tourists has started increasing after the reopening of the waterfall.

40 women get training
RAJSHAHI: Some 40 distressed but educated women were imparted computer training in order to bring them out from vicious cycle of poverty, reports BSS.
Luxmipur Dushtho Mohila Shilpa Sangstha (LDMSS) arranged the training in association with Bangladesh NGO Foundation. LDMSS organized a closing and certificate-giving ceremony of the training course on its office premises in the city yesterday afternoon. On the occasion, the participants were also given tree saplings for creating public awareness on more tree plantation.
Fazley Hossain Badsha, MP, attended and addressed the ceremony as chief guest with LDMSS President Sufiya Islam in the chair.
Social worker Shahin Akhter Rainy, joint director of BADC Ashraful Islam, executive director of Lady’s Organization for Social Welfare Shahnaj Parveen and former president of Protibandhi Swanirvor Sangstha Shafiqul Islam also spoke.
