41 arrested with arms, ammo in Khulna

KHULNA: Law enforcement agencies here in separate drives arrested 41 persons, including three alleged robbers, from different areas in the city and district during last 24 hours ending at 6 am yesterday, reports BSS.

They also recovered three foreign and country made guns, huge bullets and drugs from their possession.

In one incident, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel conducted a drive at North Bedkashi village in Koyra upazila early yesterday responding to a secret information about the presence of some robbers there, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Bazlul Haque of RAB-6 told BSS.

Sensing the presence of law enforcers, the alleged robbers tried to be managed to flee but three identifying themselves as Mustafiz alias Mostofa Sana, Solaiman Mondal and Masum Billah were caught by the elite anti-crime force, he added.

RAB also seized three guns and 43 rounds of bullet from their possessions. On the other hand, Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) arrested 38 people from different areas in the city in connection with several cases, said Monira Sultana, Additional Deputy Khulna Police Commissioner.

Police also recovered 300 bottles of phensydil, 50 grams of heroin and 31 pieces of yaba tablets from their possessions, she said. A total of five cases have been lodged against the arrestees with different police stations in these regard.
