Attempt made to erase Bangabandhu’s ideals

President Abdul Hamid yesterday said anti-liberation forces not only killed Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as an individual but also tried to eliminate his ideology from the soil of this country through the killing, reports UNB. “The vested quarter wanted to erase the ideals of Bangabandhu forever from the sacred soil of Bangladesh. Bangabandhu was killed to reestablish Rajakar and Al-badr forces in the country,” he said. The President was addressing a discussion at Eden Mohila College in the capital, marking the National Mourning Day and the 42nd martyrdom day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Terming the immortal principles and ideals of Bangabandhu a source of all inspirations, Hamid asked the students to know about Bangabandhu and the real history of the country’s Liberation War.

“The anti-liberation forces had tried to distort the real history of our Liberation War after assassinating Bangabandhu and misguided the new generation in many ways . . . So, you’ve to know the actual history of Bangladesh,” he said.

Bangabandhu had never compromised with any crime and always raised strong voice against crimes and injustice, said Hamid adding that he (Bangabandhu) was the sole leader of the country’s all movements since the 1952 Language Movement and subsequently he proclaimed the Independence of Bangladesh on March 26, 1971 that inspired people to join the nine-month Liberation War.

After the country’s independence, he said, Bangabandhu took different pragmatic steps to rebuild the war-ravaged newborn Bangladesh, and the Father of the Nation had worked relentlessly to establish a country with dignity across the world and ensure people’s economic emancipation.

“As the country was advancing towards development and progress, the anti-liberation forces along with their foreign friends started conspiring against the country’s independence and lastly assassinated Bangabandhu, the greatest Bengali of thousand years,” he said.

He said the trial of the killers of Bangabandhu has completed and some of the killers have been executed by the time. Besides, the government effort still continues to execute the rest of the fugitive killers of Bangabandhu.

“As long as Bangladesh will exist, the immoral contributions of the Father of the Nation will be recalled with due respect.” Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation Mohammad Syed Khokon, Secondary and Higher Education Division Secretary Sohorab Hossain, director general of Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) Prof Dr SM Wahiduzzaman, among others spoke in the discussion held with Principal of Eden Mohila College Prof Dr Shamsun Nahar in the chair.
