Bangladesh iconic all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan said that the upcoming Test series between Bangladesh and Australia will be a very competitive series.
“Possibility always remains there when we play at home turf,” said Shakib Al Hasan yesterday.
“Australia come here having prepared well. Along with that, they are stronger side. They could be difficult at any condition,” Shakib told newsmen while he was celebrating with his fans at the founding anniversary of Shakib’s fans’ club.
“A difficult challenge is waiting for us. At the same time, we are also prepared well. Last time when we played here, we had a good performance. In that sense, we are confident. Overall, it’ll be going to a very competitive series,” he added.
Last time when Australia made their tour to Bangladesh in 2006, any of the players of the current lot was not in that team. Only Mashrafe Bin Mortaza played against the Aussies but Mashrafe did not play Test since 2009.
Even though Australia will be new for all the players, Shakib believes that they all will be raring to perform against the visitors.
“We hope we will do better. Everybody works hard though anyone of the team didn’t play Test against Australia,” Shakib, who captains Bangladesh in Twenty20, said.
“It’ll be an experience for them all. In the other sense, all are excited to play against them. Hopefully the supporting level of our supporters will be a reasonable position,” he also said.
Bangladesh yet to win any big tournament’s final though they played the final twice in Asia Cup T20 in 2014 and Tri-nation series in 2017. But Shakib is not frustrated for those, as he said they will win big trophy or trophies in days to come.
“If we could win the two trophies where we played final it would be better for us as would increase the length of our achievement. But the opportunity has not finished yet. We are hopeful we will win big trophies in our near future,” he thought.
When asked has he set any future plan, the ace all-rounder said that he has plan to serve the country for the eight to ten year more though he has no specific target.
“I don’t have much plan. But I wish to perform as much as I have fitness. I have no specific target,” he said, adding: “I plan series by series. I think on games what comes ahead of me. In this reason, I can’t say for which time I will play but I will try to play eight to ten more years.”
