Workshop on mathematics ends at DU
A two-day workshop on mathematics concluded at AF Mujibur Rahman Mathematics Building on Dhaka University (DU) campus on Friday evening.
Bangladesh Mathematical Society (BMS) under the patronisation of CASIO, Japan organized the workshop aiming at making mathematics interesting and increasing efficiency in the subject, said a DU press release here yesterday.
DU Vice-chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique addressed the concluding ceremony of the workshop as chief guest and distributed certificates among the
participants.
 BMS President Professor Sajeda Banu presided over the function that was also addressed by DU Mathematics Department Chairman Professor Amal Krishna Halder, BMS Secretary Professor Md Shahidul Islam, BacBon Ltd Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdul Matin Sheikh, CASIO Representative Kaito Miwa and convener of the workshop Md Kutub Uddin as special guests.

Nat’l Mourning Day observed at Hamdard University
On the occasion of 42nd death anniversary of the Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Hamdard Foundation Bangladesh administered institutions Hamdard University Bangladesh, Hamdard Public College, Rawshan Jahan Eastern Medical College & Hospital, Laxmipur, Hamdard Unani Medical College & Hospital, Bogra and Hakim Said Eastern Medical College & Hospital, Dhaka organized separate discussion meetings recently, says a press release.

Notre Dame Annual Science Festival held
“Notre Dame Annual Science Festival 2017 & 27th GKC’s “Olympiad Day" was held at Notre Dame College in the capital on Saturday, says a press release.
Olympiad on various scientific sectors (physics, chemistry, biology, informatics, IQ test, sudoku) was held. The event was started from 7:30 am and ended at 1pm.  At least 6500 participants took part in the programme.
The ceremony was inaugurated by the principal the college Fr Hemanta Pius Rozario, CSC. Club coordinator, Club moderator, Executive committee & club members of 2nd year was also present during the time. The main programme of the completion will take place from August 24. IBA of RU gets two computer labs
RAJSHAHI: Two new computer laboratories were launched in Institute of Business Studies (IBA) at Rajshahi University (RU) here yesterday.
RU Vice-chancellor Prof Abdus Sobhan as the chief guest inaugurated the labs named 'Sheikh Russel Digital Computer Lab' and 'IBA Computer Lab'. A total of 10 computers were set up at Sheikh Russel Lab with financial support from Information Communication and Technology division while the IBA with its own fund has bought 20 computers for the labs.
All the computers have high-speed internet connections. RU Registrar Prof Abdul Bari, Proctor Prof Lutfor Rahman and IBA Director Prof Rafiqul Islam were present at the opening ceremony.
