Human chain demanding road repairing in Barisal

Leaders of Barisal district bus owners association formed a human chain in front of Nathullabad central bus terminal of the city yesterday morning demanding to repair Barisal-Dhaka highway immediately.
Barisal district bus owners group and Barisal district road transport labour association organised the event.
Aftab Ahmed, district president of the association said at least 35 kilometers of the Barisal-Dhaka highway from Wazirpur to Gournadi upazilas under Barisal district lying in dilapidated condition since long. Heavy road transports often breaking down on the highway endangering lives of passengers, workers.
They alleged that authorities concerned yet to repair the most dilapidated portions of the highway after repeated request. However, Roads and Highways authorities repairs the 10-kilometers long 20-years old approach roads connecting Captain Mohiuddin and Major Jalil Bridges on the highway, which remains under good condition. So they called for immediate repairing of the most endangered portions of the highway immediately to tackle the heavy load and rush of coming Eid Ul Azha. They also announced series of programe in favour of tehie demands.
