Bangabandhu’s ideals source of our inspiration: President

UNB

Terming the immortal principles and ideals of Bangabandhu as source of all inspirations, President M Abdul Hamid yesterday asked the students to know Bangabandhu and the actual history of Bangladesh Liberation War, reports UNB.

“The anti-liberation forces tried to distort the history of our Liberation War after assassinating Bangabandhu and misguide the new generation in many ways . . . So you have to know the actual history of Bangladesh,” he said while speaking at a discussion at Eden Mohila College here marking the National Mourning Day and the 42th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

He said Bangabandhu in his whole life worked for welfare of the masses and no greed and personal interest could deviate him from the movement for establishing the rights of Bengali people.

Bangabandhu never compromised with any offence and always raised strong voice against crime and injustice, Hamid said, adding, “Bangabandhu was the sole leader of country's all movements since the 1952 Language Movement and subsequently he proclaimed the Independence of Bangladesh on March 26 in 1971 that inspired masses' involvement in the nine-month Liberation War.”

Noting that Bangabandhu took different pragmatic steps to rebuild the war-ravaged newborn Bangladesh, the president said the Father of the Nation had worked relentlessly to establish a country with dignity across the world and ensure people's economic emancipation.

Terming Bangabandhu as the ambassador of liberation, he said the contribution of Bangabandhu to earning freedom and ensuring people's right reached him (Bangabandhu) to a new height as Bangabandhu and Bangladesh have become inseparable.

The president said, “As the country was proceeding towards development and progress, the anti-liberation forces along with their foreign friends started hatching conspiracy against country's Independence and lastly assassinated Bangabandhu, the greatest Bengali of thousand years.”
