The newcomers Saif Power Sporting Club recorded their third win at a stretch in the Saif Power Battery Bangladesh Premier League football when they blanked Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra by 2-0 yesterday at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
Saif Power SC, who began the league campaign with going down a fighting 2-3 defeat to holders Abahani Limited, did not look back in the last three matches, as they defeated, Arambagh and Farashganj Sporting Club before the match against Muktijoddha yesterday.
Saif Power SC, who suffered a solitary goal defeat at the hands of Muktijoddha in the Federation Cup produced a strong move in the very second minute and were too closer to take lead.
Jamal Bhuiyan initiated the scoring chance when his free kick found Tapu Barman very closer to the post but his effort denied by goalkeeper and on returned ball none of the forwards could follow up to prod past the helpless keeper.
Muktijoddha KC also had an opportunity to open scoring on 10th minute when Mohammed Zaki Sarhan incredibly entered into the danger area breaking the offside trap but the Egyptian disappointed missing the net with his powerful right footer.
Saif Power could have taken lead in the injury time of the half but this time a Jewel Rana cross hit the cross bar.
In the almost evenly progressed match with attacks from both ends, Saif SC were ahead to keep the Muktijoddha under pressure while the former were more potential to defend and could halt the first half on goalless.
The deadlock was eventually broken in scrappy fashion after huge struggling on 55th minutes.
Valencia Olaya of Colombia profited from a cut back of Riyadul Hassan inside the area to fire low into the near post when all credits should go for defender Riyadul who overlapped through the right side with solo effort before making the super cut back (1-0).
Matin Meah, doubled the margin to bring Saif Power further ahead on 73rd minute and it was also a good solo effort from the boy of Sylhet when he dribbled past two of his markers and took help from Valencia to have the ball in an open space before sending the ball into goal over the keeper (2-0).
