Theatre troupe BotTala will stage their new play ‘Crutcher Colonel’ today at the Nilima Ibrahim Auditorium of Mahila Samiti in the capital’s Baily Road area to raise a fund for Akhidul Islam, who is a student of University of Development Alternative (UDA) in Fine Arts department. Directed by Mohammad Ali Haider, the play ‘Crutcher Colonel’, an adaptation of eminent novelist Shahaduzzaman’s novel of the same title ‘Crutcher Colonel’ has been dramatised by Soumya Sarkar and Samina Luthfa Nitra. This is the 9th production of the troupe. The play ‘Crutch-er Colonel’ portrays the life of one of the masterminds of the November 7 coup Colonel Taher, who was executed in 1976. During the Liberation War, a high-achieving officer of the Pakistan army Lieutenant Colonel Taher was appointed the Sector Commander for Sector 11. After liberation, he joined the Bangladesh Army and later on joined at Jatiyo Samajtantrik Dal. He was an active player in the events of November 1975 that resulted in General Ziaur Rahman coming to power. The probable cast of the play includes Imran Khan Munna, Evan Riaz, Luthfa, Ruma, Toufique Hasan Bhuiyan, Nafij Bindu and Abdur Rahim.
