Rocket, mobile banking system of Dutch Bangla Bank Limited (DBBL), yet again became the title sponsor for the upcoming two-match Test series between Bangladesh and Australia.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief executive office (CEO) Nizam Uddin Chowdhury stated this at a press conference at the Media Block of the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) yesterday.
Nizam Uddin was accompanied with DBBL managing director Abul Kashem Mohammad Shirin and Impress-Mattra Consortium managing director Sanaul Arefin on the occasion.
On behalf of the BCB, Chowdhury conveyed sympathy for the country’s millions of the flood victims. Therefore he said that they want to successfully organize the Test series like the other series.
“As per the future tour’s programme (FTP), the series is scheduled to take place in this time. In its continuation, the Test series is being held,” said Nizam Uddin.
“We have prepared all the arrangement for the Bangladesh-Australia Test series. Hopefully we could be arranged and finished the series successfully,” Nizam told media at the sponsorship declaration programme.
Last time the DBBL came forward to sponsoring the last two back-to-back home series against Afghanistan and the top-notch England in September-October in 2016 while they launched their new mobile banking system ‘Rocket’.
After the agreement, the Test series will be named after Rocket and that title will be ‘Rocket Bangladesh-Australia Test series-2017’.
In addition, Impress-Mattra Consortium bought the rights of the title and ground sponsorship from the BCB for the next two years. Actually Rocket got the sponsorship right from the consortium vis the BCB through a tri-party agreement.
Thanking the Dutch Bangla Bank, the BCB CEO said that the partnership between the DBBL and BCB will also be seen in future.
“We thanked Dutch Bangla Bank for their cordial partnership. Hopefully the bank will stay with us in future for the development of the country’s cricket,” said Nizam Uddin.
In his reaction, DBBL managing director Abul Kashem said, “Since 2000 Bangladesh’s maiden Test, we are with cricket. We are sponsoring volleyball, handball, golf and other sport events beside cricket. Actually we want to keep contribution for the development of the country’s sports.”
The SBNCS will host the opening Test of the two-match Test series, starting from August 27.
The second and final Test will be played at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium (ZACS) in Chittagong on September 4, just one day after the Holy Eid-ul-Azha.
