Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader yesterday dubbed BNP as “a reckless driver” in the arena of politics and urged all to stay alert about the party, reports BSS.

“Be aware of BNP and stay alert about the party . . . BNP has become a reckless driver in politics which can cause accident anytime,” he told a discussion at the Secretariat marking the 42nd martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Mourning Day.

Secretariat Officers-Employees Oikya Parishad organised the discussion. State Minister for Posts and Telecommunications Begum Tarana Halim and Mourning Day Observance Committee Convener Ruhul Amin, among others, addressed the function. Quader said BNP had rehabilitated the killers of Bangabandhu but the party could not refrain from the politics of killings.

“Had Ziaur Rahman (founder of BNP) not rehabilitated the killers of Bangabandhu, another clique of killers could not have shown the audacity of killing Zia,” he added.

About the meeting of Prime Minister with the President, Quader said the premier apprised the president about the current flood situation of the country and enquired about his physical condition. He said it is the responsibility of Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina to inform the President about the stand of the government and the party on the court verdict over the 16th constitutional amendment.
