Relief distributed among flood victims

NAOGAON: District administration is distributing relief materials among the flood-affected people of nine upazilas in the district, reports BSS.
Deputy Commissioner Dr M Aminur Rahman said the district administration has already distributed about 33 tonnes of rice and Taka 52,000, in cash, among flood-affected people.
We have a stock of 74 tonnes of rice and Taka 4.48 lakh to distribute among flood-affected people, he added.
Flood situation in the district has deteriorated further as water level in Atrai and Chhoto Jamuna rivers are following above danger level by 214 cm.
Officials of Water Development Board said water in the Jamuna river rose by 10 cm while Atrai 11 cm in the last 24 hours.
District flood control office said about 39,775 families have been left marooned by flood water in the district.
Apart from this, standing crops on 16,599 hectares of land went under floodwater.
The deputy commissioner said the district administration is trying its level best to mitigate the sufferings of flood victims.
