Kahaloo upazila tops e-filing merit list

The Kahaloo upazila administration has been chosen the best of all upazila administrations in the country with respect to the e-filing of documents related to public application and administrative work.

The e-filing position of each upazilla is determined by a committee of the Access to Intimation (A2I) project of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

Responding to a query, Bogra deputy commissioner Mohammad Nura Alam Siddique said: “Our UNOs do not work for any award or recognition. Our goal is to provide services to the people using the latest technology.”

E-filing is a significant project of the government, which has started a massive programme to build a digital Bangladesh with the best use of information and communication technology (ICT) and provide it to the people with transparency and accountability. The implementation of this programme is in the last phase across the country, added the DC.

The upazilla nirbahi officer (UNO) of Kahaloo, Md Arafat Rahaman, said: ‘The e-filing project is quite significant for establishing a digital Bangladesh. This project has enabled government offices to use ICT at the optimum level.

E-filing ensures that government services are delivered transparently. The PMO supervises and evaluates this project all over the country. Every upazilla is assessed by the quality and the number of services it has delivered, added the UNO.

E-filing has started at the Kahaloo UNO office since September 2016. Owing to the continuous hard work of the staff, Kahaloo has remained in the first, second, or third place among the upazillas from the very beginning.

The DG and project director of A2I, Kabir-bin-Anowar, recently sent a DO letter to Rahaman, encouraging his effort to dispose of a huge number of e-files efficiently and quickly.
