Promising spin all-rounder Mehedi Hasan Miraj said that he seek to continue his rich form of vein against the top-notch Australia what he showcased against the top-flight England.
Later he, of course, acknowledges that that a player could not replicate such type of performance again and again in his life.
Miraj implanted his name in the record book by claiming 19 wickets in his debut Test series against England at home turf in 2016. In two-Test series, he took seven scalps (6, 1) in the first Test and 12 wickets (6, 6) in the second Test.
“The way I perform in the last series I want to maintain it in such way,” said Mehedi Hasan, who grabbed so far 35 wickets from seven Tests with the best figures of 6-77.
“If I think that I want to do what I did against England that was not always possible. Such performance could be one or twice in a life. It was beyond my expectation. I will think and try to give my hundred percent against Australia,” Miraj told media after his practice session yesterday.
“I will try to give breakthrough for the need of the team. If I could fetch the breakthrough in the right time it would be better for me and the team also. I’m focusing myself on those things,” he added. After stepping into Test arc in 2000, Bangladesh had played only four Test against the high-ranked Aussie said. Last time Australia toured in Dhaka in 2006 when Miraj used to play age cricket.
Like other youngster players, Miraj are excited to play with Australia as he said that he sees the series as an opportunity for him.
“Actually it’s a big opportunity. If I could play teams like Australia it would be a better feeling for me. We all know that India, Australia and England are big team,” he said.
The 20-year-old all-rounder said that they have every possibility to do well against the visiting side if they could perform their best from every department.
“Obviously my expectation will be there is to fare well. Inshallah, as it will be held in our soil I will try my utmost best to do well for the team,” the right-arm off break told.
“With Shakib bhai and Taijul bhai, I am also in the team along with other players. Everybody will try to do their best at their respective position. Overall, if players could perform their best at their respective departments, it will then be possible to do well against Australia,” the hopeful Mehedi said.
