Australia series is knocking at the door as the Aussies are scheduled to arrive here in Bangladesh to play the two-match Test series on August 18.
A two-member advanced team of Cricket Australia (CA) led by its chief security Sean Caroll already reached Bangladesh to look after the logistic, security arrangement along with facilities of the venue for the practice match.
By playing the two-day practice, the visiting side will move into the two-Test series against the home side, the first of which will be held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on August 27-31.
Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong will host the second and last Test of the two-match Test series, starting on September 4-8 just one day after the Eid-ul-Azha.
In this regard, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief executive Nizam Uddin Chowdhury said that the Australian advanced team will give their opinion after the end of their visits of the practice venues what they arranged for them.
“You all know that an advanced party of Cricket Australia (CA) is now in Bangladesh. They arrived here in last night (Tuesday). They will visit the grounds where we fixed for the 22-23 August practice match,” said Nizam Uddin Chowdhury.
“Today they are going to visit a venue and tomorrow they will physically visit at Fatullah to see our preparation for the match. Therefore, they will tell us about their opinion,” Chowdhury told reporters at the lounge of the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS).
The advance team was scheduled to visit in Fatullah yesterday morning but they could not move there due to the incessant downpours. Finally they went to ULAB University Campus ground to see its facilities and overall situation of the ground what BCB kept it as practice venue along with BKSP.
The BCB CEO said that they also went to visit in Fatullah and talked with the curator but the whole things depend on the weather condition.
“We also visit the ground physically and talk with our curator. He told us that the game could be played if any abnormal situation is not created. The entire things depend on the weather. Our curator told that if they get at least two days then they could prepare the ground,” he informed.
“We have options in Dhaka that are BKSP and ULAB University Campus ground. We have seen the grounds. After holding their in-field visit, they will inform us their opinion,” he said.
On the other hand, the BCB held their pre-series meeting with the country’s security entities. A commando group appeared in Mirpur to drill their demonstration what they finally exhibit today in the presence of the Australian advance team.
“It’s our routine meeting with the government entities. You all had seen it during the last home series against England. Such meeting and comandos’ demo has been held. It’s a part of security plan,” Nizam Uddin said.
“As they are in Bangladesh we have security arrangement ready for them. They wanted to see a demonstration of our security. As a part of our security plan, such demonstrations are being held,” he also said.
