RANGPUR: Experts at a workshop in Rangpur recently called for mainstreaming the autistic children through flourishing their inherent talents by ensuring proper care, attention, education and training in congenial atmosphere, reports BSS.
They expressed the view at the ‘Regional Organisational and Educational Development Workshop-2017’ held at Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry auditorium in the city.
Society for Welfare of the Intellectually Disabled (SWID), Bangladesh and Therap Bangladesh jointly organised the workshop participated by entrepreneurs and teachers of 50 autism schools from across the district.
Secretary General of SWID Bangladesh Zaoaherul Islam Mamun inaugurated the event presided over by President of Rangpur unit of SWID Bangladesh Advocate Abdur Rashid Chowdhury.
Deputy Inspector General for Rangpur Range of Bangladesh Police Khondker Golam Faruk attended the workshop as the chief guest.
Joint Secretary General of SWID Bangladesh Shushanto Bhowmick, Assistant Director of Therap Bangladesh Foysal Iqbal and its International Affairs Executive Officer Prottay Iqbal addressed the event as special guests.
The chief guest called upon all concerned to come forward with holistic approaches to flourish inherent talent of autistic to make them worthy citizens.
He stressed on creating adequate social awareness about the reasons of birth of newborn babies with autism to reduce the number of children with special needs.
Advocate Abdur Rashid stressed on creating awareness among pregnant mothers to reduce risk of autism, neuro-developmental disabilities and physical disability of newborn babies.
Shushanto Bhowmick said the autistic, neuro-developmentally disabled and physically challenged children have enormous latent talents and they equally deserve constitutional rights in getting all privileges.
Zaoaherul Islam Mamun stressed on ensuring inclusive education for autistic children in classrooms, taking proper care, improving quality of education and giving due attention for flourishing their talents.
