DHAKA: Awami League Presidium Member Mohammed Nasim yesterday urged people of all professions, including party leaders and workers, to stand by the flood victims at different areas across the country, reports BSS.

“Provide the hands of cooperation for the flood-affected people at northern and middle parts and Sylhet regions of the country from everyone’s respective position,” he said while speaking at a discussion, marking the National Mourning Day and 42nd martyrdom anniversary of Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, at National Academy for Educational Management (NAYEM) at Dhanmondi here.

Director General of NAEM Prof Hamidul Haque presided over the discussion.

Stressing the necessary relief materials and medicare facilities for the flood-hit people, the health minister said he asked the director general of the Directorate General of Health Services (DHGS) to constitute necessary medical teams and send medicines at the flood affected areas as urgent basis. About the next general polls, he said, “We always want a free, fair and credible Jatiya Sangsad election with all political parties, including BNP, taking part in.” He said all must keep faith on people’s verdict as Awami League would accept people’s decision what it would be.

Nasim, also the coordinator of AL-led 14-party alliance, urged BNP to take preparation for the next polls and not to flee away from the voting field. He also called upon BNP and its allies not to unleash terrors and kill any innocent people through arson attacks again.

Lauding different steps of the incumbent government in combating militancy and terrorism across the country, the senior AL leader said, “No other countries including modern Europe and America could have curbed militancy successfully what our government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina did applying her techniques”
