Meeting on Annual Performance Agreement held at UGC

A discussion on evaluation report for 2016-2017 Fiscal Year of Annual Performance Agreement (APA) was held yesterday at UGC auditorium in the capital, says a press release. Professor Dr M Shah Nowaz Ali, Member, UGC, was present on the occasion as the chief guest.

Earlier, 37 public universities of the country signed Annual Performance Agreement for 2016-17 Fiscal Year with UGC for establishing good governance and excellence in higher educational institutions.  Addressing the programme, Professor Shah Nowaz Ali said that the present government has introduced Annual Performance Agreement to bring discipline and dynamism in activities among various government organisations. He urged all to come forward for working together for developing the nation and building a Sonar Bangla as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Formation of Ethical Committee, Working Group and Core Committee of National Integration Strategy was also discussed in the meeting. Md Mizanoor Rahman, FCMA, Director, Finance and Accounts Division, UGC and Mr. Md. Kamal Hossain, Additional Director, Strategic Planning, Quality Assurance & Right to Information Division, spoke on the occasion.

Focal points of Annual Performance Agreement Evaluation Committee of 37 public universities took part in the meeting. High officials from UGC were also present in the meeting.

NSU observes National Mourning Day

North South University (NSU) held day-long programme to mark the National Mourning on the university premises on Tuesday, says a press release.

The programme includes placing wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahmanat at Dhanmondi 32, discussion meeting and Doa Mahfil, seeking eternal peace of the departed soul of Bangabandhu and other martyrs. The national flag would be hoisted at half-mast along with the raising of the black flag on the campus.

The day started with placing floral wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Dhanmondi 32.  In the second session held at NSU auditorium, a documentary was shown on life of Bangabandhu. Later a discussion session was held where Vice-chancellor Professor Atiqul Islam, Board of Trustees Member Bejanir Ahmed, Treasurer Gour Gobindo Goswami, Exam Controller Colonel Shah Murtoza Ali (Retd.) spoke. Pro vice-chancellor (Designate) Professor Gias U Ahsan, chaired the session. Deans and Chairs of different Schools and Departments, Faculty members, Administrative officials, students and parents attended the programme.

RU student adviser submits resignation

The Student Advisor Professor Dr Mizanur Rahman Khan of Rajshahi University submitted his resignation letter from his post yesterday. He submitted his resignation paper to RU Registrar Prof Dr M Bari around 10pm, official sources said. “RU student adviser said he has resigned from the post willingly.  Registrarof the university Prof Dr M Bari said, “Dr Mizanur Rahman Khan submitted resign letter and he will stay on the post before accepting the letter by RU vice- chancellor Prof Dr M Abdus Sobhan”.

Voluntary blood donation campaign at DU

A voluntarily blood donation campaign was held on Battala premises of Dhaka University (DU) on Tuesday in observance of National Mourning Day and the 42nd martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) central committee organised the campaign while Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) President Mustafa Jalal Mohiuddin inaugurated the campaign as the chief guest. BMA Secretary General Ahetashamul Haque chowdhury, BCL President Saifur Rahman Sohag and General Secretary SM Jakir Hossain addressed the function, among others. Addressing the inaugural function Saifur Rahman Sohag urged the government to bring the Bangabandhu's fugitive killers back to home for their execution.

JU admission registration process to begin Aug 20

The online registration process for the first-year honors admission tests of Jahangirnagar University under academic session 2017-18 will begin on August 20 which will continue till September 21. The admission tests will begin on October 8 which will continue till October 18, confirmed JU Deputy Registrar Abu Hasan (Education-1). Admission seekers will have to pay the fees through DBBL mobile banking channel. By using one mobile number, a candidate can apply for all units but will not be able to apply more than one for the same unit.  The details of the admission process can be obtained from the ju-admission.org/.

Meanwhile, the university authority opens a new institute named “Bangabandhu Comparative Literature and Culture Institute’, said a university press release.
