Farooki’s ‘Doob’ invited to Asia Pacific Screen Awards

Mostofa Sarwar Farooki’s much-talked-about film ‘Doob’ (No Bed of Roses) has been invited to take part in the competition category at the 11th edition of the prestigious Asia Pacific Screen Awards. The event will take place in Brisbane, Australia, which is set to kick off from November 23 this year.

Farooki said about attending the festival with his film, “Our film (Doob) has been selected this year also to compete in the festival. Let’s see, whether we can get nomination. But this is really very tough. Because, all the countries from Asia Pacific will compete here with their best films.

The film stars Indian popular actor Irrfan Khan and Bangladeshi Nusrat Imroze Tisha in main roles. Bangladeshi production house Jaaz Multimedia produced the film ‘Doob’ alongside India’s Eskay Movies with Khan’s IK Company on board as co-producer.  

The story builds up around the members of two families discovering the finer fabric of love when the headman of a family dies. Filmmaker named Javed Hasan leaves his wife and marries an actress who was his daughter’s classmate in school.

Mostofa Sarwar Farooki’s ‘Doob’ became the epicentre of attention in November last year when an Indian newspaper reported that it was based on the iconic Bangladeshi novelist Humayun Ahmed’s life.
