Mushfiq urges fans to stand by flood victims

Bangladesh Test captain Mushfiqur Rahim called upon his fans, supporters alongside peoples of all stratums to help and stand by the flood victims of the northern districts of the country yesterday.

Since last one week, all the major rivers including the Padma, Jamuna, Bhahmaputra, Teesta, Dharala and Atrai in the northern districts have been flowing over their respective danger marks, flooding the swathes of areas and its cropland of Dinajpur, Lalmonirhat, Kurigram, Bogra, Gaibandha, Rangpur, Thakurgaon, Jalmalpur and Sirajganj.

The incident of the death has been occurred everyday. To date, the death toll has risen to 25 in the last three days. Roads have been damaged and houses were swept away by the strong current of the floodwaters.  

With the collapse of the dams, embankments in these districts, the new areas are being inundated daily.

In such situation, Mushfiqur Rahim in the 80-second video message of his verified facebook live page addressed his ardent fans and supporters coupled with well-to-do people of the country in a solemn mood, saying, “Assalamu Alaikum, I’ve come in front of you all today with a lot of pains, expectation and an appeal for help.”       

“You all are aware of that how much grave situation in these areas’ people are now in due to the floods. I have promised to stand by them. And I will request you all to stand beside these flood victims,” he told.

“You can help out financially or with flood relief or in any way you can but please stand beside the people in crisis especially the plight of our northern districts’ people are very bad,” he added.

He also said that those who have no ability to financially help these distressed people they could at least pray to Allah for them so that they could return to normal life through ending their grim states as early as possible.
