Bangladesh iconic all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan yet again reclaimed the World No.1 all-rounder spot in all the three formats of cricket in the latest MRF Tyres ICC rankings in the gap of a week.

Last week Bangladesh all-rounder lost his top spot as Test all-rounder to Indian off-spinner Ravindra Jadeja though he was in top in ODI and T20 all-rounder rankings.

Following India’s series-winning second Test victory at Colombo’s SSC ground, Indian all-rounder ascended to the pole position of the Test all-rounders’ spot for his scintillating performance. Man-of-the-match Jadeja grabbed seven wickets (2 and 5) and scored an unbeaten 70.

But when he missed the third and last Pallekele Test because of a one-match suspension after accumulating six demerit points inside a 24-month period, he slipped one point behind Shakib’s tally of 431 points. For this he lost his top all-rounder place.

Even though he lost his top slot of Test all-rounder, he will remain at the top of the Test bowlers’ rankings.

Meanwhile, Shakib along with promising spin all-rounder Mehedi Hasan Miraj returned home from the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) to join with the Tigers ongoing intense practice camp ahead of the upcoming Test home series against the high-ranked Australia.

Of them, Shakib came back on Monday night via America, while Miraj on Tuesday morning.

The country’s premier all-rounder appeared in Mirpur in the very next day after his arrival in Dhaka.

This year Shakib played just three matches for the defending champion Jamaica Tallawahs, wherein his team though lost the first match won last two back-to-back matches before his departure.

Magura-born all-rounder showcased his dexterity more with willow than his cherry. The 30-year-old picked up just two wickets but he scored 61 runs in total with the best figures of unbeaten 44 that he clouted against Barbados Tridents. Tallawahs won the match by 12 runs.

He belted five fours and one six in his 32-ball unbeaten knock. He was worthy of the man of the match award for his all-round performance.

On the other hand, Miraj came back home without playing any match for the Trinbago Knight Riders, who ascended to the top spot of the point-table by showcasing their stellar performance.

The team chalked up the highest 10 points with five wins out of six matches to grab the pole position.

In the last match when Miraj was in his plane on way to Bangladesh, Trinbago trounced St Kitts and Nevis Patriots by four wickets. He had to watch Trinbago’s match from distance as he did not get chance to place in the playing XI due to the team’s combination.

“The tour in the West Indies was better feeling for me. The CPL is a big tournament. I have not got any chance to play for the outside franchisee-based tournament. Though I could not play any match, I got opportunity to see big star near to me,” said Mehedi Hasan.

“It would be better feeling if I could have played a match. But if I could have stayed throughout the whole tournament, I could then have got chance to play. Actually Trinbago was on winning mood so the team management did not break the team combination at that moment,” Miraj also said.
