CHITTAGONG: Six persons, including a schoolboy, were killed in separate incidents in the city yesterday, reports BSS.
Four of the deceased were identified as Mosharraf Hossain Musa, 50, Wazed Ali Babul, 45, auto-rickshaw driver Jasim Sikdar, 38 and Abdur Rahim, 35.
In Port Connecting Road area, three persons were killed and two others injured as a container-laden lorry crushed a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in city's Port Connecting Road area yesterday morning.
The accident occurred when a Chittagong Port-bound container-laden lorry fell on a three-wheeler as its driver lost control over the steering on Port Connecting Road near Nimtala area around 10 am, said Moinul Islam, officer- in-charge (OC) of Bandar Police Station.
Three of the victims including the auto-rickshaw driver died on the spot while the injured were admitted to Chittagong Medical College and Hospital (CMCH).
Being informed, a team of the Fire Service and Civil Defence rushed to the spot and rescued the injured and towed the vehicles.
Besides, Rahim was critically injured as he was electrocuted while working at soap factory in capital's Kalurghat area around 8.30am.
