All the dilapidated roads in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) area will be repaired at the end of monsoon, said Mayor Mohammad Sayeed Khokon yesterday, reports BSS.
“There has been more rain in the capital and also outside Dhaka this year. Many roads in South City Corporation area have been affected due to excessive rain. All the roads including dilapidated ones will be repaired at the end of monsoon,” he said.
He said this as the chief guest while inaugurating a voluntary blood donation programme marking the National Mourning Day on Shegunbagicha High School premises organized by city corporation ward no 20 councilor Farid Uddin Ratan. The mayor termed waterlogging as a major problem for the city dwellers, saying water cannot be removed due to the construction of residential and commercial buildings by filling up natural water bodies in the city. “A master plan must be prepared for solving this long standing problem permanently and it should be assigned to a single authority to work properly. That's why time is needed,” he said.
However, the mayor said, initiative has been taken to stop water logging in the shortest possible time after rain.
